Features of CAs

• I wrote a paper entitled A Review of Cell Assemblies with Peter Passmore in 2013.
• It's not entirely clear what a CA is, but that paper proposes undone features
  1. A CA has a relatively small number of neurons (thousands maybe hundreds or millions).
  2. A CA can show self sustaining persistent activity.
  3. A CA is learned.
  4. Neurons in a CA fire synchronously.
• It's not entirely clear what a CA is and these features specify aspects of a CA.
• The features are not universally agreed upon, but are widely agreed upon.
• It's not entirely clear the size of CA. I think Buzsaki suggest at least 200 neurons (from some insect).
• It may be that CAs have a range of behaviour with larger CAs behaving quite differently from smaller ones.
