Potentation and Depression

• If an excitatory synapse gets stronger, it is potentiated.
• If it gets weaker, it is depressed.
• It's not entirely clear to me what the terminology is for inhibitory synapses.
• I would say if the synapse becomes more inhibitory, it is potentiated, but I can imagine there is terminological discussion.
• I haven't actually noticed the discussion on long term changes either.
• None the less, it seems that there is substantially less work in short term plasticity than long term plasiticity particularly in modelling.
• This shows the tension between biology and simulation.
