Velocity
- Velocity is the rate of change over time.
- It's how fast you're going.
- This is typically measured in metres per second or m/s.
- I also like miles per hour.
- v=delta(x)/delta(t); that is the change in location/ change
in time.
- This is calculus, as is acceleration. (The first derivative
of location is velocity, the second acceleration. I also took
3 semesters of calculus at University.)
- However, the simple version where velocity is constant
is easy enough.
- If you are going up at 2 m/s, and you've gone for 5 seconds,
and you start at (4,5,1), you move 10 m in 5 seconds, up
is the third vector elemet so you are at (4,5,11).
- Note that the direction that you are travelling in can be represented
by a unit vector.
