CAs for Categorisation
- CAs categorise
They do this by:
- Stimuli is presented to the network
- Neurons fire
- The CA (or CAs) that ignite are those that the network "thinks" are
present in the stimuli
- So, the stimuli is categorised by which CAs it activates
- This can also be called recognition
- This relates to figure and ground separation
- A small network/brain represents a big world by having CAs/concepts.
- At any time, the brain is thinking of a small number of the concepts it has.
- At any time, the network has a small number of active CAs.
