Applications Conclusion

• I mentioned several areas today about applications.
• They're accurate, but not exhaustive.
• I could have added information retrieval and model building.
• What about visual analytics (William, Simon and others). Is that AI?
• The point is that AI, and soft AI in particular, is a bunch of algorithms and methods that can be used for a wide range of things.
• Is google search AI? Who really cares how it's labelled.
• Are weather models (that run on really big computers) AI?
• Frequently, the boundaries blur, but Knowledge Representation, Search and Machine Learning occur all over the place.
