The Turing Test
- The standard test for machine intelligence is the Turing Test.
- That is, if a machine can pass the test, it will be deemed to
be intelligent.
- No machine has passed the test, and it is run annually as the
Loebner prize.
- The test is to fool the user that the system is a human.
- It's a chatbot test, but it's open ended.
- That is, the user can talk for as long as he likes about
anything he likes.
- This is an open domain test.
- Chatbots, and other AI systems, can be very effective in
restricted domains, but they really have problems in open
domains.
