Neuropsychology: Modularity and Distribution
- We would like to use neuropsychology as a guide.
- We'd like to understand why a laminar architecture works.
- We'd like to understand about brain areas: how they work
and how they share information.
- Perhaps easier (though still a long way off) is to understand
input (sensing) channels, and output (motor) channels.
- It's only easier because it's easier for the neuropsychologists
to study and they have already made a lot of progress.
- Modularity and Distribution:
- A key problem here is that brain areas are specialized
but still manage to communicate with other areas.
- So processing is somewhat modular but is also distributed.
- We do not really have a good idea of how this works.
- Avoid short term changes in neuropsychological fashion
