Where the research is trying to go
- I'm really interested in how people think.
- We know they use their neurons to think, but there are lots of
things we don't know about how the thinking emerges from
neurons.
- Biology is discovering things, but the scientific community
doesn't know a range of things about that emergence.
- Simulations are a useful tool to figure that stuff out;
- to figure out the quesions to ask.
- We did the CABot thing, so we know that neurons are Turing
complete.
- We did some learning stuff before CABot, and some during.
- Still, there are a lot of things we don't know about learning.
- We also don't know about neurons and neural models. My approach
has been to have a simple model that I add things to (or remove
things from) when necessary. More complex models should have all
the features the simple model does.
- In particular, we don't have a good way for neural circuits
to move into new areas.
- These simulations also, hopefully, provide a mechanism to moving
toward AI by building simulations that are like people.
