Cell Assemblies
- The xor stuff doesn't have much about cell assemblies (CAs), but I think
they're essential to understanding how thinking emerges from neurons.
- CAs are groups of neurons with large mutual connections.
- They can persist after stimulation (making them short-term
memories).
- They are learned (making them long-term memories).
- They're the neural basis of concepts, and thus of symbols.
- There is other larger neural structure, but CAs are
really important.
