Box Models
- For a long time, Psychologists have been making box models of
cognition.
- The idea is that these are the basic elements of cognition
and here's how they're connected.

- It's pretty simple, but there is some evidence supporting it.
- The problem is that it's not entirely clear what each box and
each arrow does.
- We AI folks say that if you can't write a program to do it, you don't
really understand it.
- So, as I and a lot of AI folks are also cognitive scientists, we
want to build programs that are cognitive models.
