Short Term Potentiation and Depression
- Synaptic efficiency can change over a range of short term
time scales varying from milliseconds to hours.
- This change can either increase the strength (potentiation) or
- decrease (depress) the strength.
- Biologically this can derive from (e.g.) lack of neurotransmitters.
- This change can be modelled by any function, for example
the
Tsodkyks-Markram model.
- As time goes by, the synapse reverts to the original weight, so the
change is only short term.
- I use STP for binding (my model is just linear).
