Models of Neurons Hodgkin Huxley
- A neuron is not just a simple equation, but a cell, and they can
modelled at much finer granularity.
- Probably the most famous example of this is the Hodgkin Huxley model,
Hodgkin Huxley Wiki.
- This is a conductance based model and deals with ion channels.
- There really is practically no limit to the complexity that the
model has.
- You can model the shape of synaptic clefts and dendrites.
- You can model how a spike from one neuron to a dendrite is modulated
by the spike from another neuron on that same dendrite.
- The down side to this additional complexity, is that the computation
needed to run the model can be quite significant.
