Soft AI vs. Hard AI
- Google search does not work the way people do.
- A cognitive architecture, like ACT-R, does.
- Soft AI solves the problem (whichever one it is) in any way it can.
- Hard AI solves the problem the way people do.
- Aside from caring about how people think (Pyschology?), why
would one want to study hard AI?
- The problem with soft AI is that the simple problem solutions
do not extend. They're brittle.
- For example, robots are typically coded with a vision system
that doesn't talk to the motor system.
