We really Don't Know How Brains Work
- We know things about neurons.
- We know things about brain areas.
- We know things about Psychology.
- We know things about Linguistics.
- At least we have solid theories and evidence about these things.
- However, our models are far from complete.
- We don't have very good ideas about how neurons work together; the
joint behaviour of the 100 billion neurons is really not understood.
- For instance, we don't know how a grammar rule is applied
while reading (writing or talking).
- So, when people combine I and talk, we don't really have
an idea what neurons are firing, nor what they do to make
the sentence I talk in our heads.
