Jets and Sharks Results

- 10 people were stored (minor methodologial flaw).
- On 15 different runs, when each person was presented, his
features and only his features activated each time.
- This shows a CA system storing multiple associations.
- One of the really nice aspects of the original experiment
was prototypicality effects.
- When Shark was activated all of the Sharks became active, but
the system settled on the prototypical Shark.
- Our simulation had this to some degree. On 15 runs with Jet, Art was
always most active at stability. With Sharks, Nick was 9
times and Ned 6 times.
- This is really nice for us. One of the problems with CA research
is that CAs are usually active or not. Here we find some
degree of variable activity (like psychological memories).
