Associative memories are also context sensitive. So Red is
associated with a lot of things, but Red and Sox are associated
with baseball and Red and Wings with Ice Hockey.
A version of this was implemented.
This all comes from one network so distance-biased excitatory
and random inhibitory connections.
As the Jets and Sharks experiment, base CAs are learned first.
At A (above) all associations are viable.
Triples are then presented (Food-Hungry-Salivate;
Food-NotHungry-LieDown).
At B (above) the solid associations have been instantiated via learning
and the dashed have not been instantiated.
Testing presents the double (Food-Hungry; Food-NotHungry).
It correctly retrieves the third associate 83% of the time,
with no incorrect retrievals.
To some extent, the triples are overlapping
cell assemblies.
