Problems that CAs "Solve"
- Short-term Memory: When a concept is in short term memory, the
CA is active (a large subset of its neurons are active).
- Long-term Memory: Memories are formed by the formation of CAs.
These form using the Hebbian learning rule which strengthens
connections.
- Set/Priming: If a CA is primed, it will become active quicker because
some of its neurons are already acttive
- Recognition: when external stimulus activates enough of the
neurons in a CA, the CA will be ignited and the object will
be recognized as an instance of the CA.
