Writing helps you argue
- Assuming that you actually want to convince people of your
argument, writing helps you.
- Obviously it helps because people can read your work.
- It also helps you develop your argument by putting it down
on paper.
- Writing starts a cyclic process of reading and commentary.
- Others read your work and comment on it either verbally or
in writing.
- Frequently this is reviewers of your writing. These reviewers
can be your tutors, colleagues or editors
- These people may point out flaws in your argument or counter
arguments.
- Knowing these problems enables you to correct them.
- You might even find out that some basic supports for your argument
are wrong. This hurts, but does allow you to move forward.
