• Nodes can have any value
• Arcs can also have any value
• Usually the arc relationship goes in one direction, with the implied reverse relationship in the other direction (covered-by -> covers)
• Typically, the semantic net has a small fixed number of primitives as arcs
• This is because these are the main things that the Net can be used for
• A particularly important relationship is Inheritence which is described by the label Is-A
