Biology and Psychology

• It's pretty clear that we think with our brains.
• We know lots about neurons, but not lots about how we use them to think.
• That CA thing (thoughts emerging from neurons) is not well understood.
• Our approach is to try to build more and more complex AI systems,
• from neurons,
• trying to be biologically plausible,
• and cognitively accurate.
• This helps us build cool systems, but also
• helps us understand how people think.
• We're making progress, but have a (very, very) long way to go.
