• The more it knows about the world and the effects of its actions, the more it can plan before it acts.
• So, an agent can search a maze by moving through it.
• However, if it has already moved through it, it can plan a path.
• If planning is quicker than acting, the resulting action may well be quicker.
• Moreover, if actions can have negative side effects, planning may be essential.
