Energy
- Energy is the capacity for doing work.
- Kinetic energy is the energy of motion.
- E=mvv/2 (energy is proportional to the mass of the object
and the square of the velocity).
- The work done by a net force on an object is equal to the change
in the kinetic energy of that object.
- Potential energy is the energy of an object due to its location.
- (A car at the top of a hill has more potential energy than one at
the bottom.)
- E=mgh (where h is the height).
- Conservation of energy. Energy can't be created just converted from
one form to another.
- We've not talked about chemical energy, heat, or strong or weak nuclear
forces (and I don't think we will in this module).
