Cognitive Architectures
- One set of systems that implement a theory and multiple cognitive
models are known as Cognitive Architectures.
- Newell proposed that a Cognitive Architecture provides all the
stable framework that a cognitive being (usually considered a human)
has.
- There can be extra stuff that's added, but that is not the stable
stuff.
- While no system really fulfills this currently, there are several
really good ones.
- Soar, from Laird, Rosenbloom and Newell is mostly used for AI
systems.
- ACT by Anderson is the popular Cognitive Model architecture.
- Another is EPIC by Kieras, and there are quite a few others.
