- GATE can be used for other things than TE.
- An example might be conversational systems.
- However, you might want to try a different bit of middle ware
for dialogue, e.g. Ravenclaw.
- Note that this system also needs to be tailored for the domain.
- That's where we are with AI; you need to build domain specific
applications.
- That said, you could build additional output modules and
interpretation modules and get a reasonable conversational
system out of GATE.
- For that matter, you could do a lot of different language processing
with GATE. E.g named entity, language alignment, and translation.
- GATE is good for prototyping.
