Neural Fatigue
- Neurons get tired.
- If they fire lots they tend to slow down just like muscles
- The computational reason for doing this is to shut down CAs.
They simply get tired when their neurons get tired.
- I don't have evidence that this is the case, and one can
imagine a system with fatiguing neurons but without fatiguing
CAs. (DeVries thinks this.)
- There also seems to be a psychological phenomena of perseveration
that may relate to this issue.
- At any rate, I've been using it for a while, so I'm not going
to throw it out without good reason.
- The result of adding fatigue is that connection weights go
down because it is less likely that neurons are on.
