Cell Assemblies
- The neural basis of concepts are cell assemblies (CAs).
- Buzaski said that the unit of communication in the brain is
not the neuron but the CA.
- CAs are a bunch of neurons that have high mutual synaptic
weight.
- Firing from a small percentage leads to an ignition of the
CA, so that lots of its neurons fire persistently for some
time.
- That time is the duration of the concept represented by the CA
in psychological short term memory.
- The formation of the CA is a psychological long-term memory.
- I'm huge on CAs and I think they're under utilised.
