Proof
- Proofs can prove a sentence.
- Does that mean that a proof makes a sentence true?
- To some extent yes.
- Remember a proof is based on some axioms.
- So, if the axioms are true, and the proof is true, then the sentence
is true.
- However, can you tell that the axioms (or to a lesser extent the proof)
is true.
- Note that evidence doesn't prove a sentence. (We're not lawyers trying
to prove someone is guilty; beside, they just prove beyond a reasonable
doubt.)
- Note from the
theory wiki has a lot of mathematical theories. When do they
align with reality?
