- Principle of Parsimony
- Given two competing theories (or hypotheses) the one with the
fewest assumptions is best.
- Another key to evaluating theories is their Explanatory Power.
What does the theory enable us to predict?
- A third key to evaluating theories is their Falsifiability.
- If you can't feasibly show a theory is false, then it's not particularly
informative. This might be applicable to God. You can't make an
experiment that shows God, therefore the theory is not falsifiable.
