Extend the Theory
- Theories are usually incomplete.
- There are ways to improve it.
- This might not be a new theory, but could be an extension to the
theory.
- I'm interested in Cell Assembly theory. Milner extended it by
the inclusion of inhibitory synapses. Von der Malsburg extended it
by the inclusion of synchronous firing.
- While neither of these is as famous as Hebb (have you heard of any
of them), they've all done really good work.
- You can also refine a theory by firming it up with equations.
- A reasonable extension to a reasonable theory is an excellent
basis for a thesis.
