CAs and Vision
- A lot of computer vision takes advantage of known human vision
properties.
- You take advantage of certain neural properties
- Neurons might act as Gabor filters.
- Low level brain areas (V1) recognise lines and maybe slightly more
complex behaviour
- There is a what vs. where path
- But you ignore other structure
- You all know about line recognition (V1) but what do the V1
to Lateral Geniculate Nucleus connections do?
(They're part of CAs.)
- What does the cortex do? It's much bigger than V1 or V2
or the whole area. If you lose it, you lose vision.
- How do you get what and where?
