Neural Recruitment
- Neurons are recruited into a CA by having the connections
to them (from neurons in the CA) strengthened.
- This in turn should lead to strengthening connections from the new
neuron to neurons in the CA
- The brain (and our model) has distance biased connections
- Since there are more connections to a nearby neuron, a CA that
has a lot of neurons in a particular place is likely to
recruit a nearby neuron
- Distant neurons can be connected, but it is likely that
CAs share lots of nearby neurons
- CAs are in competition for neurons with other CAs
- Neurons may not be in any CAs
