Developmental Computational Neuropsychology
- A brain has developed and grown in a body.
- Neurons and synapses grow while the fetus is developing.
- It's pretty clear that this growth is affected by genetics,
but it's also affected by the environment.
- Once the baby is born, it is really affected by environment.
(Hubel and Wiesel)
- There is a big neural pruning at about 3 months.
- Brains continue to grow, partially in response to the environement.
- So, the real problem is a developmental-neuro-psychology one.
- It's really hard understand this because it takes so long,
and it's really difficult to reproduce it.
- Imagine genetically identical mice. How hard is it to raise them
identically.
