Receptive Fields
- Dan noted that the way human vision works starts
with receptive fields.
- Here we have a 3x3 on-off receptor that responds optimally
when the centre pixel is on and the surrounding 8 are off.
- We had 3x3, 6x6 and 9x9 receptive fields.
- We had on off receptive field and off on fields.
- This is a 6x6 off-on receptor that responds optimally when
the centre 4 pixels are off and the surrounding 32 are on.
- Dan also came up with a simple spike model that was
novel for us.
- This enabled us to come up with some nice equations as to when
the receptors spiked.
- This was also used to calculate results further along.
