Learning New Systems
- If humans have these generative systems that are
learned (language specifically), how do they work and how
are they learned?
- There has been a lot of work in figuring out how neural
learning works.
- This have been pretty successful for things like CAs (categorisers)
- So there is hope that we could use neural systems now to learn
speech recognition.
- However, we do not really have an idea about how to learn rules
.
- Moreover, learning systems is even more complex than learning
rules.
- A system might be able to learn a grammar rule, but how does it learn
how to apply it.
- It is likely that a human is born with a genetic and
develeopmental predisposition to learn the particular (3 or more)
systems.
- They then need exposure to an environment to learn the
correct system (e.g. English syntax vs. Arabic syntax).
