Language Development from a Neuro-Computational Perspective

I'd really like to build a full fledged neural simulation of
language development, but I don't think we're really even
close.
Language is really complex.
Even compared to vision, the scientific community has a poor
understanding of the underlying neural structure of language.
Instead of a complete model, I'd like to discuss some ideas about how
such a system might work.
Then propose one possible step toward such a model.
