Improved Vision
- We're currently working on grating cells (Emma Byrne).
- CABot1 and 2 had models of cells that are known to occur in the
primary visual cortex (V1). Three types of detectors were line
detectors, edge detectors, and corner dectectors.
- Grating cells are a fourth type and they work for texture.
- We've also done a bit of work on learning visual items (like
squares (Fawad Jamshed)).
- CABot4 and 5 will extend this learning.
- It will also include foveation, parallax, and improved
figure ground separation.
- One thing that's nice about fLIF neurons is their fatigue
helps with active vision.
- That is, when an object is moving, or a new object appears,
it is more easily recognised because the neurons that support
the old stimuli are tired and can't inhibit the new ones.
