Variable Binding
- A really important feature I've missed so far is variable
binding.
- The frame has to be able to bind to any of the appropriate fillers.
- In the case of a noun instance, this has to be to any of the possible
head nouns.
- In the case of the verb instance, it's to the verbs and to the
instance (noun) slot fillers.
- The common way to do binding is by synchrony.
- I use short term potentiation.
- For instance when the head noun slot of an instance becomes active
along with a possible head noun, the synapses change weight, and
they become bound.
- Over time, these changes revert to base, and the binding is erased.
- So, I have to turn things on relatively frequently to maintain the
binding.
- However, I can reuse the instances after a few sentences because they
are now clean.
