Cell Assemblies (CAs)
- CAs are highly recurrent neural networks.
- The network of neurons is highly recurrent, but
a CA is set of neurons that have lots of strong
mutual connections.
- Some neurons in the CA get activated and they activate other
neurons in the CA via the strong connections.
- CA ignition leads to the whole CA being active and remaining
active for longer than a neuron could.
- CAs are formed via Hebbian-like learning from repeated
occurences of similar stimuli.
- Concepts are represented via CAs.
- A CA is a long-term memory.
- An active CA is a working memory.
