Listening to Talks

• Listening to talks is a great way to learn things.
• One thing you can learn, is how to give a better talk.
• You should try to get involved by asking questions.
• If you're really quiet, you can ask clarifying questions to a neighbor during the talk.
• Try to read about the talk before hand. There's often a paper, the slides, or at least an abstract available.
• This reading gives you a double dose of the research area.
• Shmooze at the end.
• Take notes, but not too many.
