• There are a range of formats of citations.
• For the course work, I don't care as long as you use a relatively standard one.
• An advantage to using [1] is its short.
• The advantage to using [Huyck 2005] is it's more informative
• Publications usually have a standard format.



• Use citations to give hooks into the literature.
• Use citations to support your argument.
• Use citations so you don't have to argue.
