• Cresswell is really concentrating on writing a proposal.
• Consequently, he's focused on a time frame of a few years.
• It seems to me that you want to interleave different methods throughout the research.
• You don't want to say I'll do a case study, then make a questionairre for quantitative data to evaluate.
• Instead, you want to do a case study to orient yourself. Then you want to do a quantitative study to get some firm evidence. Then you want to do some grounded theory analysis to develop a theory in the area. And so forth.
• Cresswell's approach might be good for proposing a study that is to last several months to a few years.
• So, it might be good for theses and grant applications.
• However, it seems a poor approach for longer term research.
