Cognitive Maps for Keeping Track
- I've used cogmaps for brainstorming, but am more familiar with
them for tracking your domain.
- I was once told about a very successful researcher who
had a big cognitive map on his wall.
- He annotated the nodes of the map with references.
- This enabled him to coherently track the literature he
was reading.
- In essence, he was building a map of the domain.
- From time to time I try to do this. It's been a long time
since I've tried a large scale version of this.
- I do however frequently make small scale maps.
- It helps me organising papers that I'm writing.
- I also do it with students to organise their research.
- You of course can do it for different things.
- You could do it for an article you're working on, but
you could do it while planning your garden.
