  • People use a system.
  • Once they get it to work, they don't figure out how to make it work better for them.
  • There are two particular problems.
  • The new user may have to spend a lot of time getting it to work.
  • The experienced user has no easy way of learning new things.
• Assimilation Paradox
• People apply what they already know to new sitautions.
• When the metaphor works (Word and typewriter), great, but it can break down.
