Appropriate Domains

CBR is suitable:

• when the domain is broad but shallow.
• when experience rather than theory is the primary source of information.
• when the requirement is for the best available solution, rather than a guaranteed exact solution.
• when solutions are reusable, rather than unique to each situation.
• 
  
  This also fits in with search spaces. The search space has to have a mechanism that draws similar cases together.
• The similarity metric (for the domain) exploits this similarity.
