Cognitive Systems
The European Union (EU) has expressed interest in forming Networks
of Excellence (NoE). The EU is currently (August 2003) accepting
proposals for October submissions on networks. The School of
Computing Science is interested in joining an NoE involved in
Cognitive Systems.
The school has a wide range of experience that is appropriate for
such an NoE. We have faculty and PhD researchers interested in:
- Vision
- Natural Language Processing
- Natural Language Generation
- Cognitive Architectures
- Neural Networks
- Fuzzy Systems and Genetic Algorithms
- Neural and Cognitive Simulation
- Adaptive Systems
- HCI
- Data Mining
- Information Retrieval
- and others
Recent Activities
- Submission of Proposal for a joint NoE under EU Sixth Framework Programme
(FP6):
-
Grand Challenges of Computer Science: Brain and Mind Architecture
- Discussions between MDX, DeMongtfort's Centre for Computational
Intelligence and Thales group.
The FP6 project will last for 5 years. The expected
size at Middlesex will be 15 faculty and 15 PhD students. The deadline
for submission from Middlesex is the 30th of August 2003.
